High-barrier fiber,
engineered for performance.
Cirkla's patented barrier systems deliver the oxygen, moisture, and gas-flush performance that fresh protein, ready meals, and shelf-stable products require - across fiber packaging that runs on your existing equipment.
The basics
Plant fiber, engineered for performance.
Molded fiber is made from plant-based raw materials - primarily sugarcane bagasse (an agricultural byproduct of sugar processing), bamboo, and wood pulp. The fiber is suspended in water, formed into shape under pressure, and dried to produce rigid, food-safe packaging.
What sets Cirkla apart isn't the fiber - it's the barrier systems we engineer onto it. Our patented technology is what enables fiber to perform where plastic used to be the only option.
The technology
Patented lamination. Built for the most demanding applications.
Cirkla's patented lamination process bonds a multi-layer barrier liner directly to the fiber substrate during manufacturing. The barrier becomes part of the structure, delivering the oxygen, moisture, and gas-flush performance that MAP-grade fresh protein, premium ready meals, and vacuum skin packaging require.
It's the technology that's powering our commercial production today - across signed agreements with major US protein producers and grocery retailers.

Engineered consistency, at commercial scale.
01
Slurry preparation
Plant fibers (sugarcane bagasse, bamboo, wood pulp) are mixed with water to form a slurry.
02
Forming
The slurry is pressed into shape using precision molds, producing the structural fiber tray.
03
Drying
Heat and pressure remove moisture, locking in the tray's rigidity and dimensional consistency.
04
Lamination
Our patented multi-layer barrier liner is bonded to the fiber substrate, completing the high-performance tray.
